CHAPTER 31.

AN ACT to amend article thirty of the Code of
|
|
|
|
Public General Laws of this State, title " Crimes
|
|
|
|
and Punishments," by adding thereto certain ad-
|
|
|
|
ditional sections, under the sub-title of " Tramps."
|
|
|
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
|
|
|
|
bly of Maryland, That article thirty of the Public
|
Amended
|
|
|
General Laws of this State, title " Crimes and Pun-
|
and addition-
|
|
|
ishments," be amended by adding thereto the fol-
|
al sections ad-
ded.

|
|
lowing additional sections, under the sub-title of
|
|
|
|
" Tramps : "
|
|
|
|
SECTION 1. Every person, not insane, who wan-
|
|
|
|
ders about in this State and lodges in market-houses,
|
|
|
|
market-places, or in other public buildings, or in
|
|
|
|
barns, out-houses, barracks, sheds, or in the open
|
|
|
|
air, without having any fixed place of residence, and

deemed to be

town or county in which he may so wander, and
|
tramps.

|
without having any visible means of support, shall

be deemed to be a tramp and to be guilty of a mis-

demeanor, and shall be subject to imprisonment in
|
|
|
|
the Maryland House of Correction for a period not
|
|
|
|
less than two months nor more than one year.

SEC. 2. The respective justices of the peace in the
