and shall pay over the surplus, if any, to the owner

of the property so levied upon and sold.

Effective.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this act
shall take effect from the date of the passage thereof.

CHAPTER 231.

AN ACT to repeal section four of the act of as-

sembly passed at the January session, eighteen

hundred and sixty-six, chapter fifty-three, en-

titled " An act amendatory of an act entitled an

act to establish and endow an Agricultural Col-

lege in Maryland, passed at January session,

eighteen hundred and fifty-six, chapter ninety-

seven, and of a supplemental act passed at Janu-

ary session, eighteen hundred and fifty-eight,

chapter two hundred and sixty-five," and to re-

enact said section with amendments.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly

of Maryland, That section four of chapter fifty-

three of an act passed at the January session,
