SEC. 136. The Clerk of the Circuit Court for said
|
|
|
|
county shall diligently inquire as to the sufficiency
|
|
|
|
of the bond, and the competency of the petitioners,
|
|
|
|
required by section one hundred and thirty-four, and
|
|
|
|
if he shall wilfully or negligently fail so to do, he
|

shall, upon conviction thereof, be deemed guilty of

|
|
a misdemeanor, and be liable to a fine, in the discre-
|
|
|
|
tion of the circuit court, of not less than fifty nor
|
|

more than one hundred dollars for each offence.

|
SEC. 137. It shall be the duty of said clerk to
|
|
|
|
require from each applicant for license, as aforesaid,
|
|
|
|
in addition to any requirements of the General Li-
cense Laws of this State, a written affidavit, to be

filed in his office, in which said applicant shall state

the situation of the house, or place of business, and

premises, including all the buildings and ground oc-

cupied or used in connection therewith, at or in

|
annual value thereof, and the owner of said house

|
|
or place of business and premises ; also that each of

|
|
|
the petitioners signing the petition of said applicant
is such a freeholder as is required by section one
hundred and thirty-four, and lives within three miles

of the said proposed place of business of said appli-
|
|
|
|
cant ; and said clerk may, in his discretion, require

SEC. 138. All sums received by said clerk for
