CHAPTEE 183.


AN ACT entitled " An act to repeal sections three


hundred and forty-seven and three hundred and


forty- eight of article twenty-one of the Code of


Public Local Laws, as enacted by chapter three


hundred and twenty-seven of the acts of eighteen


hundred and seventy, and' to repeal section one


of chapter one hundred and thirty-five of the acts


of eighteen hundred and seventy-six, and re-enact


the same with amendments ; to regulate the shoot-


ing, killing, entrapping and destroying of birds in


Washington county."


SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly


of Maryland, That sections three hundred and forty-


seven and three hundred and forty-eight of article


twenty-one of the Code of Public Local Laws, as

Repealed and
re-enacted.

enacted by chapter three hundred and twenty-seven
of the acts of eighteen hundred and seventy, be and


the same are hereby repealed, and that section one


of chapter one hundred and thirty-five of the acts


of eighteen hundred and seventy-six, be and the same


is hereby repealed and re-enacted to read as follows :


SECTION 1. It shall not be lawful for any person


or persons in Washington county to shoot, kill or in

any way entrap or destroy any blue-bird, swallow,

shoot blue

martin, robin, cat-bird, wood-pecker, sparrow, wren,

birds, &c.

whip-poor-will, lark, thrush, mocking-bird, or any


insectivorous bird at any season of the year, under the


penalty of two dollars for each bird so killed, taken


or destroyed, nor for any person or persons to trap,


shoot or in any manner catch, kill or wound any bird


or birds or wild fowl of any kind or description


whatever in Washington county, except pheasants,


bull-bats, or night hawks and doves, between the


twelfth day of August and the thirty-first day of


December ; wild turkeys between the first day of


November and the first day of the ensuing January,


and partridges between the twentieth day of Octo-


ber and the first day of the ensuing January in each
