15. The governor, by and with the advice of the library
committee created by section 12 of this article, is authorized
and empowered to appoint a person as indexer and cataloguer
of the State library who shall hold his office for the period of
two years, or until his successor is duly appointed and qualified,
and who shall receive a salary of six hundred dollars per
annum, payable in monthly instalments by warrant of the
comptroller upon the treasurer. It shall be the duty of the
said indexer and cataloguer to attend daily at the State library
on each day that the same is open and there continue the work
of indexing and card cataloguing under the system now adopted
and carried on therein, and as far as practicable keep the said
work up to date; and he shall also perform such other services
(when his time is not fully occupied in indexing and cataloguing)
as shall be required of him by the said library committee.
