nature of the contents of any private communication entrusted to
him for transmission or delivery, or who shall wilfully refuse or
neglect to transmit or deliver the same, shall, on conviction
before any court having criminal jurisdiction, be adjudged
guilty of a misdemeanor, and shall suffer imprisonment in the
jail in the county or city where such conviction shall be had for
a term of not more than three months, or shall be fined not
exceeding five hundred dollars, or both, in the discretion of the
court.

Turnpikes.

1900, ch, 646.

272A. Every turnpike company or other toll road in this State
shall cause a bright light to reflect upon their toll bars or gates
when down during the hours of darkness, and upon indictment
and conviction for any violation of the provisions of this section
such company or companies shall be fined not less than ten nor
more than one hundred dollars.

JURISDICTION, PROCEDURE AND SENTENCE.
Indictments-Violation of City or Town Ordinances.

1900, ch 131.

291C. In every indictment for the violation of any ordinance
of any incorporated city or town of this State, it shall not be
necessary to set forth a copy of the said ordinance, or any par-
ticular section thereof; but every such indictment shall be suffi-
cient if it recites the number of the ordinance alleged to have
been violated, with the date of its passage, or if the ordinance
has been embraced in a codification, if it refers to the number of
the article and section of such codification containing such ordi-
nance, and conforms to the rules of law governing the framing
of indictments for violation of acts of the General Assembly of
this State, and concludes "Against the form of the ordinance in
such case made and provided, and against the peace, government
and dignity of the State. "
