ARTICLE LXXXIX.
STATISTICS AND INFORMATION AS TO BRANCHES OP
INDUSTRY.
1. Industrial bureau to be estab-
lished. "Chief of the indus-
trial bureau" to be appointed.
2. Duty of such officer as regards
labor, agriculture, minerals,
transportation. All officers

officer all reports as soon as pub-
lished. Publication of said infor-
mation in a book to be annually

1. A bureau of statistics and information concerning the
various branches of industry practised in this State, and the needs
thereof, is hereby established, and a person to be known as the
"chief of the industrial bureau" shall be appointed by the Gover-
nor, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate, who shall
hold office for the term of two years and until the appointment
and qualification of his successor, and shall receive as compensa-
tion the sum of twenty-five hundred dollars a year.

2. It shall be the duty of the chief of the industrial bureau:
let. To collect statistics concerning and examine into the condi-
tion of labor in this State, with especial reference to wages, and
the causes of strikes and disagreements between employers and
employes.
2d. To collect information in regard to the agricultural condi-
tion and products of the several counties of the State, the acreage
under cultivation and planted to the various crops, the character
and price of lands, the live stock, et cetera, and all other matters
pertaining to agricultural pursuits, which may be of general
interest and calculated to attract immigration to the State.
3d. To collect information in regard to the mineral products
of the State, the output of mines, quarries and so forth, and the
manufacturing industries.
