person to them for the support and maintenance of the poor in
said county, and may purchase and hold any lands not exceeding
the yearly value of fifteen hundred dollars.

7. They may use a common seal.

8. They may make, alter, amend or repeal such by-laws as
may be necessary for the relief, regulation and labor of the poor,
and for the good government of the almshouse, as to them from
time to time shall appear necessary.

9. They shall meet at the almshouse on the second Thursday
in January, April, June and October, and as much oftener as
they may deem proper for the interests of the almshouse.

10. They shall annually, between the first and the tenth day
of May, appoint an overseer of the almshouse and other proper
officers and servants for carrying on the business of said corpo-
ration, and may remove the same in then discretion and appoint
others in their stead.

11. They shall require the overseer to give bond with good
and sufficient securities in the penalty of five hundred dollars,
payable to them, conditioned for the faithful performance of the
duties of his office.
