872 CECIL COUNTY. [ART. 8.

P. L. L.,(1860,) art. 8, sec. 178.

310. No person shall run any race with any horse, mare or
gelding, for wager on the public roads or streets in Cecil county.

311. Any person who shall offend against the provisions of the
preceding section, shall be fined not less than twenty dollars for
each offence.

1864, ch. 08.

312. No person shall fire any gun, pistol or fire-lock of any
kind, on or within twenty yards of any public road, street, bridge,
causeway or highway in Cecil county, under a penalty of not less
than five nor more than twenty dollars, to be recovered in the
same manner as prescribed in section 309.

1884, ch. 45.

313. The county commissioners are authorized and directed
to divide, once in every two years, the county into three divisions,
each embracing three election districts, and to assign one of their
number to each of said divisions, who shall have general charge
of all roads and bridges, and shall give general supervision to all
road and bridge work done in his division.

314. The commissioners shall divide the first, second, third,
fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh election districts of said county,
each into three road districts, and the eighth and ninth election
districts each into two road districts; and whenever they shall
deem it necessary to do so, may change the boundaries of said
road districts; and the commissioners shall appoint for each road
district a road commissioner, who shall hold his office for the
number of years not exceeding three, that the county commis-
sioners may specify at the time of making said appointment; and
there shall be appointed in the first, second, third, fourth, fifth,
sixth and seventh election districts one road commissioner for
one year, one for two and one for three years, and in the eighth
and ninth election districts, one for one year and one for two
years; and one of the commissioners in each election district
