848 . CECIL COUNTY. [ ART. 8.

line to a large flat stone in or on the edge of a small run on the
land of the Misses Chamberlain, one hundred and fifty-seven feet
in an easterly direction from a very large poplar tree that stands
on the line between the lauds of the said Misses Chamberlain and
Doctor Virdin; thence in a westerly direction, with and bounding
on said run and on the south side thereof until it empties into the
Susquehanna river, twenty feet north of the ice houses and
wharf of Cochran & Co.; thence with and bounding on the
Susquehanna river to the place of beginning.

223. The male citizens of the United States of the age of
twenty-one years and upwards, who shall have resided in the
town of Perryville one year next preceding the election, and all .
male citizens of the United States of the age of twenty-one years
and upwards who own real estate to the value of fifty dollars
within the corporate limits of said town, shall elect by ballot on
the first Monday of May in each year, at such place as the
"Commissioners of Perryville" shall designate, three commis-
sioners, who shall be owners of real estate in said town, and who
shall have resided within the limits of the same one year next
preceding the election; and no commissioner shall receive any
compensation for his services as such.

224. Said commissioners shall annually, on the first Monday
of May, appoint some person to act as judge of said election, who
shall open the polls at three o'clock F. H. and close the same at six
P. M. ; and the persons who shall have the majority of votes shall
be declared elected commissioners for the ensuing year.

225. In case of the death, refusal to act, resignation or disqual-
ification of any of the commissioners, the remaining commissioners
shall direct an election to be held to fill such vacancy; and the
commissioners or remaining commissioners shall give at least ten
days' notice of all elections by handbills set up at three of the
most public places in said town.
