right angle with said turnpike, four hundred yards; thence west-
erly and northerly, and running parallel with the course of said
turnpike, and four hundred yards therefrom, to the line of Adam
Gilbert's land, located at or near a public road leading from said
turnpike to Abraham Wampler's mill; thence westerly and
southerly, with the outlines of said Gilbert's land, to a point four
hundred yards southwest from the turnpike leading from West-
minster to Uniontown; thence easterly and southerly, and parallel
with the last named turnpike, and the aforesaid Baltimore and
Reisterstown turnpike, and four hundred yards from each, to the
line formerly dividing "Baltimore and Frederick counties, and
thence with said last line to the place of beginning.

216. The inhabitants of said city, qualified to rote for dele-
gates to the general assembly, shall elect by ballot on the first
Monday of May, in each year, at such place as shall be desig-
nated by the mayor and common council, between the hours of
twelve o'clock at noon and six o'clock in the evening, one per-
son, at least twenty-five years of age, and who has resided in said
city two years previous to said election, mayor of said city; and
five persons, at least twenty-one years of age, and who have re-
sided in said city one year previous to said election, members-
of the common council.

217. The mayor shall give at least two weeks' notice of the
election, and shall appoint three persons judges of election; and
the said judges shall have power to appoint a clerk, who shall
keep a record of the persons Toting, and the persons voted for;
and the persons having the highest number of votes for the
several offices of mayor and common council shall be declared
duly elected.

218. The judges and clerks of election shall notify the per-
sons elected of their election, and the persons so elected shall
severally hold their respective offices from the third Monday of
May next ensuing the election, for and during one year, and
until their successors shall be duly elected.
