700 CARROLL COUNTY. [ART. 7.

levy upon the assessable property of the county for any actual or
expected deficiency of means for its support, and they shall them-
selves, or by a committee of one or more of their number, make
all sales and purchases that may be necessary or proper in
conducting the affairs of the farm and almshouse, and do all other
acts and things necessary for the proper management of the same.

3. Whenever they may deem it just and proper they may
require indigent persons who receive out-pensions to relinquish
the same and repair to the almshouse.

4. They may grant out-pensions when in their opinion it is
right and proper.

5. They shall publish annually with their statement of the
county expenditures, a statement of the financial condition of the
almshouse.

BAILIFFS AND CRIER.

6. The county commissioners shall pay the bailiffs and crier
of the circuit court for said county, at its several sessions, the
sums of money due to them for their respective services, immedi-
ately upon the presentation of the certificate of the clerk of said
court showing such attendance and services.

7. They shall pay out of the general levy of said county to the
crier, three dollars per day for each day said court is in session
and said crier is in attendance upon said court, which said per
diem shall be in lieu of all other compensation.
