442 CITY OP BALTIMORE. [ART. 4.

1864, ch. 328.

505. All assaults, riots, or other criminal acts which may be
done or committed on the premises aforesaid, shall be cognizable
by the criminal court of Baltimore.

1880, ch. 446.

506. The board of public works in this State is authorized
and directed to lease the State cattle yards and scales upon such
terms as shall be satisfactory to the said board, for the period of
four years, said rental to be paid quarterly, and said lease to be
made upon such conditions, as to keeping the said property in
good condition and repair, as the said board of public works shall
deem necessary.

PETROLEUM AND ITS PRODUCTS.

1880, ch. 56.

508. The mayor and city council of Baltimore are authorized
to fix by ordinance the standard or flashing point of oil or
fluids made from petroleum or its products, used for illuminating
purposes, and offered for sale in the city of Baltimore, and to
provide for the inspection of the same, and for the appointment
of inspectors for that purpose.

1872, ch. 163.

509. The governor shall biennially appoint two suitable per-
sons who are well skilled in the construction and use of steam
engines and boilers, and in application of steam thereto, whose
duty it shall be to inspect steam boilers in the city of Baltimore,
as hereinafter specified and directed; said inspectors before enter-
ing on their duties, shall make oath before a justice of the peace,
that they will faithfully perform the duties of their office with-
out fear, partiality or favor; that they are not, and will not dur-
