mitting its violation in any store under his charge or manage-
ment, shall be subject to a penalty or fine of fifty dollars, the
one-half thereof to be paid to the board of public school commis-
sioners of said city for the use of the public schools, and the
other half to the treasurer of the Maryland college of pharmacy,
for the use of the college.

397. Any person who shall mix with any substance or prepa-
ration used or intended to be used as an officinal medicine, any
foreign or inert substance for the purpose of adulterating or
weakening the same, or shall knowingly sell or knowingly offer
for sale any officinal medicines so adulterated or deficient in

standard strength, shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and
subject to a penalty or fine of fifty dollars, as provided in the
preceding section.

SEATS FOR FEMALE EMPLOYEES IN STOEES OR FACTORIES.

1883, ch. 85.

398. It shall be the duty of all employers of females in any
mercantile or manufacturing business or occupation in the city of
Baltimore to provide and maintain suitable seats for the use of
finch female employees, and to permit the use of such seats by
such employees to such an extent as may be reasonable for the
preservation of their health.

399. Any violation of the preceding section by any employer
shall be deemed a misdemeanor, and shall be punishable by a fine
of one hundred and fifty dollars, to be collected as other fines are

collected.
