264 BALTIMORE COUNTY. [ART. 3.

1883, ch. 546.

249. Two-fifths the width of all streets and avenues in Balti-
more county shall be set apart for footways or walks, viz: one-
fifth to be laid off on each side of said streets and avenues.

SWINE.

1870, ch. 265.

250. It shall not be lawful for any person to allow swine to
run at large in any part of Baltimore county which lies within
the distance of fifteen miles from the bounds of Baltimore city.

251. Any person may impound any swine found going at
large in any part of said county not distant from the bounds of
Baltimore city more than fifteen miles, belonging to any inhabi-
tants thereof; and the owner of such swine, on reclaiming the
same shall pay at the rate of twenty-five cents per head for every
twenty-four hours euch swine may have been impounded, after
any swine so impounded shall be advertised by notice in writing,
set, up at two of the most public places in the election district
wherein such swine may have been impounded.

252. Jf any swine shall remain so impounded for five days
after notice given as aforesaid, the party so impounding it or
them may sell the same at public auction, after five days' notice,
set up as provided in the preceding section, for the payment of
costs and expenses, including the said twenty-five cents per day.

253. All disputes which may arise between the owner of any
swine and the persons so impounding it or them, shall be deter-
mined by a justice of the peace for said county, who may sum-
mon witnesses and decide the matter in controversy.
