be condemned the full width as laid off; but if the owners of a
majority of front feet of ground bounding and fronting thereon
should desire the same to be opened, graded and constructed of a
less width, they may set forth that fact in their application to the
county commissioners, and designate the width which they may
desire the same to be opened, graded and constructed; but the
road bed of any street or avenue, or part thereof, shall not be less
than thirty feet in width at any point, except where it may con-
nect with bridges and culverts of a less width; and after any
street or avenue, or parts thereof, shall have been condemned of
the full width, and opened, graded and constructed of a less
width than condemned, and the owners of a majority of front
feet of ground bounding and fronting on such street or avenue,
or any portion thereof, shall desire to widen, open, grade and
construct the same of the full width as condemned, they may
make application to the county commissioners, in writing, setting
forth the fact and designating the street or avenue, or portion of
the same, which they may desire to be widened, opened, graded
and constructed; and when said application is presented, the
county commissioners shall appoint one examiner or three exam-
iners, in the manner hereinafter provided for, whose duty it shall
be to widen, open, grade and construct said street or avenue, or
portion thereof, in accordance with said application and the pro-
visions of this sub-title of this article; and all proceedings which
can be had and taken for the condemnation, opening, grading
and construction of any street or avenue, or portion thereof,
under the provisions of this sub-title of this article, can and shall
be had and taken, so far as the same may be practicable, for the
widening, opening, grading and construction of such street or
avenue, or any portion thereof.

231. Whenever the owners of a majority of front feet of
ground bounding and fronting on any street, avenue or alley, or
part thereof, which may be condemned, opened, graded and con-
structed under the provisions of this sub-title of this article, or
which may have been heretofore condemned, opened, graded
and constructed according to law, may desire to have the same
macadamized, graveled, shelled, paved or curbed, they may make
