sions, who shall be mounted, and who shall each furnish his own
horse, trappings, equipments and forage for said horse, shall be
three dollars per day; all pay-rolls to be made out monthly, and
certified as required by the county commissioners.

177. The county commissioners shall levy annually a snf-
ficient sum, not exceeding twenty-five thousand dollars, upon the
taxable property in Baltimore county, to pay said policemen and
for such other necessary and proper expenses as in their judg-
ment may be required to promote the efficiency, discipline and
Usefulness of such police force.

178. The county commissioners are authorized to make such
regulations as may be necessary and proper for the keeping of
the station houses, which they are or may hereafter be authorized
to rent or erect, for the detention of persons therein, and for their
removal to the county jail.

179. The proprietors of all quarries on either side of the Falls
turnpike road, between the fourth mile-stone on said road and
the city of Baltimore, shall cause notice to be given by means of
a bell of such size and sound as may be heard at the distance of
six hundred yards, of each explosion or blast, at least five minutes
before any such explosion or blast shall be made.

180. The proprietor (or tenant, in case of lease,) of the quarry
wherein any neglect to comply with the provisions and directions
of the foregoing section shall occur, shall, for each violation or
neglect, be subject to a fine of ten dollars, to be recovered by
warrant before any justice of the peace for said county, for the
use of the informer.
