STOCK.

190. It shall not be lawful for stock of any kind to run at
large in Quantico, nor within the following described limits:
Beginning at the bridge across Quantico creek on the south side,
and the residence of George A. Bounds on the north, and the
residence of Mathias Disharoon on the west side.

191. It shall be the duty of any constable or officer of the
law to take up and impound any cattle or swine which may be
found going at large; and any constable or officer of the law
so taking up and impounding shall notify a justice of the peace,
resident within the said county, who shall give notice of said
impounding by advertisements set up at one or more public
places, describing the stock so impounded, and that the same will
be sold at public auction at some public place in said limits with-
in four days; provided, that if the owner of any stock impounded
under this section shall prove to the satisfaction of the justice of
the peace that said stock did not go at large from negligence, or
want of care on his part, and that due diligence was used to pre-
vent it, he shall have return of the property on paying all ex-
penses of keeping and proving the same, and fifty cents for
taking up each of said stock.

192. Out of all monies arising from the execution of the pre-
ceding section, the justice of the peace shall collect and pay to
the party taking up and impounding said stock, a fair compen-
sation for his services, and the balance to the owner, who may
establish his claim to said property; and in the event of no such
claimant appearing within thirty days, then the balance, after
deducting costs, shall be paid into the school fund for Wicomico
county.

193. The county commissioners of Wicomico county are
authorized and empowered, whenever it shall seem to them ex-
