2036 WASHINGTON COUNTY. [ART. 22.

1876, ch. 63.

423. The treasurer of said corporation shall at the close of
each year make an itemized account of all the receipts and ex-
penditures of said corporation during said year; also an itemized!
statement of all the outstanding debts of said corporation, which
shall be printed and publicly put up at the place for holding the
town election for the ensuing year.

424. The county commissioners shall levy a sufficient sum, in
advance, to pay State's witnesses in said county promptly at the
close of each term of the circuit court.

425. Whenever any person shall present to the collector of
said county, an order from the clerk of the circuit court for his
attendance as a witness, he shall pay to such person, or his order,
the amount due him, after deducting therefrom all charges he
may have against such witness.

WORKHOUSE.

P. L. L., (1860,) art. 21, sec. 337.

426. The county commissioners shall set apart and designate
suitable apartments in the jail of said county, to be known and
denominated as the workhouse of Washington county, and to be
kept by the sheriff, under the superintendence and control of the
county commissioners.

427. Whenever any person shall become liable to be com-
mitted to the workhouse, he shall be committed to the custody of
the sheriff, to be confined in said apartments for the time specified
in the commitment, on low and coarse diet and at hard labor.

428. Upon complaint made to any justice of the peace for
said county, that any person from his disorderly conduct gives.
