fine of twenty-five dollars for each offence; and upon failure to
pay said fine and the costs of said prosecution, shall be com-
mitted to the jail of said county for the period of thirty days.

1888, ch. 543.

142. No person shall at any time, place or deposit in the
waters of said county, any pike except wall-eyed or yellow pike,
pickerel, Johnny Grinnel, or any fish, or the fry, or spawn, or
milt of any pike, except of wall-eyed or yellow pike, pickerel,
Johnny Grinnel or any fish except such fish, or the fry, or spawn,
or milt of such fish as are specified in sections 136 and 137, or
may be placed or deposited in the waters of said county upon
the recommendation and authority of the commissioner of fish-
eries of Maryland, or the commissioner general of the United
States. Any person violating any provision of this section shall,
upon conviction before any justice of the peace of said county,
forfeit and pay a fine of not less than fifty dollars nor more than
one hundred dollars for each offence; and upon failure to pay
said fine, and the costs of said prosecution, shall be committed to
the jail of said county for not less than thirty nor more than
sixty days.

143. It shall not be lawful to lease any portion of the waters
or streams in said county to any person, association or corporation,
for a fish preserve, except for fish hatching purposes.

144. Any justice of the peace of said county, upon receiving
sufficient proof that any provisions of sections 136-143 have
been violated by any person being temporarily within said county,
but not residing therein permanently, or by any person whose
name and residence are unknown, is authorized to issue a warrant
for the arrest of such offenders.

145. All fines mentioned in sections 136-142 shall be
recovered in the name of the county commissioners of said
county; one-half to be paid to the informer, and the other half
to be paid to the county commissioners of said county for the
benefit of the public schools of said county; provided, that any
