ART. 22.] ALMSHOUSE. 1923

P. L. L., (1860,) art 21, sec. 18.

18. The trustees may remove the overseer and other officers
and servants appointed by them, and appoint others in their
place.

1878, ch 279.

19. They shall allow said overseer a sum not exceeding the
sum of four hundred dollars per annum, and so pro rata daring
his continuance in office.

20. The overseer shall keep a list of all poor persons admitted
to said almshouse, and lay the same before the trustees at their
regular meetings, or oftener if required.

21. He shall keep a regular account, in writing, of all mate-
rials and other things that may come to his hands, and all
expenses and charges attending the maintenance of the poor, and
of all money received by him for the sale of the produce of their
labor, and exhibit said account, under an affidavit, administered
by one of said trustees, that it is just and true, to the trus-
tees, when required.

22. He may compel any of the inmates of said almshouse to
work, if of sufficient ability to do so.

23. Any one trustee may, under his hand in writing, direct
the admission of any poor person into the said almshouse.

24. If any person shall sell or dispose of any strong liquor
or other thing to, or purchase anything from, any inmate of said
Almshouse, he shall forfeit and pay the sum of forty dollars.

Ibid sec. 25.

25. All sheriffs, constables and other officers shall aid the
trustees of the almshouse, and the officers appointed by them, in
the discharge of their respective duties.
