at all their meetings, and in his absence they shall appoint a tem-
porary chairman.

90. The governor is authorized and empowered to appoint one
or more justices of the peace for Crisfield district, to reside in
the lower part of the said town of Crisfield.

91. Said town commissioners, as judges of election, may meet,
on the Wednesday preceding the day oi election, as a board of
registration, from the hour of ono p. n. to five P. M., to register
the qualified voters of the town.

92. It shall not be lawful for the keeper of any hotel, tavern,
store, drinking establishment or any other place where liquors are
sold, or for any person, directly or indirectly, to sell, barter or
give or dispose of any spirituous or fermented liquors, ale or
beer, or intoxicating drink of any kind, on the day of any elec-
tion to be held in said town; any person violating or assisting in.
violating the provisions of this section, shall, upon conviction
before a justice of the peace of said town, be fined a sum not less
than fifty dollars nor more than one hundred dollars for each
and every offence; said fines to go to the town commissioners for
town expenses.

93. Said commissioners are authorized, in their discretion, to
issue bonds or certificates of indebtedness to an amount not to
exceed five thousand dollars, of the denomination of fifty dollars.
or any multiple of that sum, of euch form as the said commis-
sioners may prescribe, bearing the lowest rate of interest, not
exceeding six per centum per annum, at which said commis-
sioners shall be enabled to sell or dispose of the said bonds; the
interest thereon to be payable semi-annually on the first days of
January and July in each year; said bonds shall be divided into
three classes, A, B and C, respectively; class A shall be redeem-
able after fifteen years from the date of their issue; class B after
ten years, and class C after five years; said bonds shall be exempt
from State, county and town taxation, and shall not be disposed
of until bids therefor have been duly advertised.
