BIRDS AND CAME.
1874, ch. 474.
1. It shall be unlawful for any person at any time to shoot
or otherwise kill or injure, or pursue with such intent, any of the
following named birds, within the limits of Baltimore county
and Cecil county, viz: blue bird, thrush, martin, mocking bird,
swallow, oriole, red bird, cat bird, sparrow, whippoorwill, wren,
pewit, goldfinch, sapsucker, ground robin, hanging bird or wood-
pecker.

2. It shall be unlawful for any person knowingly and unneces-
sarily to destroy or disturb the eggs of any of the above-men-
turned birds.

3. Any person violating either of the two preceding sections,
shall, on conviction thereof, be fined a sum not less than two
dollars and not more than ten dollars for each offence, with the
costs of prosecution; and all prosecutions shall be in the name of
the State, before a justice of the peace of the election district in
which such violation may occur; and of all such fines, when col-
lected, one-half shall be paid to the informer and the other half
to the treasurer of the county, to be applied to the support of
the public schools of the county.

4. The possession by any person, within said counties, of any
of the above-mentioned birds, shot, killed or otherwise destroyed,
shall be prima facie evidence of the violation by such person of
section 1; and it shall be the duty of the constables of said coun-
ties, respectively, to arrest all persons they may detect in, or who
may be charged with the violation of sections 1 and 2, and take
them before the nearest justice of the peace, to be dealt with
according to law.

5. No person shall shoot or in any manner catch, kill or have
in possession in Baltimore county any rabbit between the twenty-
sixth day of December, said day included, and the first day of
November next ensuing in each and every year, nor any wood-
