twenty cents; for geese, ten cents—to be collected as fines, penal-
ties and forfeitures are collected under the Code of Public Gen-
eral Laws.

204. Any owner of stock so taken up shall have the privilege
of a fair hearing before any justice of the peace of the election
districts hereinbefore named.

205. The fines specified in section 203 shall be paid, one-
fourth to the informer, one-fourth to the constable in the case,
and the remainder to the board of county school commissioners,
to be by them applied to the public school fund of said county.

206. Said fines shall not be imposed in any case where the
owner of stock found trespassing as above named shall make it
appear satisfactorily to the justice of the peace in the case, that
he had employed all reasonable means to prevent such trespass,
and that it had occurred through some agency over which he
could exercise no control.

207. This sub-title of this article shall not apply to any stock
being driven from point to point on the public roads or public
grounds in school districts aforesaid, when such stock shall be
under proper guard.

208. Any one who shall be found guilty before any justice of
the peace of the county, of purposely turning out stock, or of
opening gates, or in any other way aiding any stock mentioned in
sections 201 and 202, to trespass as herein prohibited, shall be
liable to a fine of not more than five dollars, to be collected as
other fines are collected under this sub-title of this article, or
imprisonment in the county jail for a term not exceeding seven
days; and any fine collected under this section shall be paid,
one-half to the informer and the other half into the county treas-
ury.
