ROADS.

1874, ch. 266.

278. It shall not be lawful for any person, with or without,
the consent of the county commissioners, to erect, have or keep
any gate upon the public roads of the county; and the road super-
visors of said county shall cause all gates to be removed there-
from in their respective districts.

279. Any person who shall in any way or manner hinder,
obstruct, molest or disturb any supervisor in the performance of
the duties required of him under the provisions of the preceding
section, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and be liable to pre-
sentment and indictment by the grand jury of the county, and
shall, on conviction thereof by a court of law, be fined in a sum
not less than twenty-five dollars nor more than one hundred dol-
lars, and be imprisoned in the county jail for not less than thirty
days nor more than ninety days, or both, in the discretion of the
court before which he shall be tried and convicted; the said fine
to be applied to the road fund of the county.

280. The county commissioners of Prince George's county
shall divide the county in road districts, not exceeding fourteen,
for each of which they shall appoint a supervisor of skill and
ability, who shall have charge of the repairs of all roads and
bridges in his road district, except such bridges as the county
commissioners may deem it advisable to repair by contract, and
said supervisor shall give bond in such penalty and with such
security as they may fix and approve, and with such conditions as
they may prescribe in regard to the duties to be performed, the
use, safe-keeping and due return of all property placed in his
charge, and the proper disposal of all moneys coming into his
hands for road purposes.

281. Each supervisor appointed under the provisions of the
