1578 PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY. [ART. 17,

according as they are paid, on or before said respective dates; and
after the treasurer has given the notices by public advertisement,
as directed by this section, it shall only be necessary for him to
levy upon the real or personal property within the limits of
Prince George's county, of any delinquent, and after giving at
least twenty days' notice of the time, terms and place of sale, by
advertisement in at least one newspaper published in said county,
he shall on the premises or at the court-house door of said county,
proceed to sell, by public auction, the property so levied on, for
cash to the highest bidder, retaining out of the proceeds of suck
Bale the amount of the taxes dne from such delinquent, with
interest thereon, together with the cost incurred in making such
sale, and he shall pay the surplus, if any, to the owner thereof,

109. He shall keep and pay over, according to law or upon
the order of the county commissioners, the proceeds of all county
taxes levied in said county and collected by him, and shall also
keep and pay over to the treasurer of the State, according to law,
all the State taxes levied in said county and collected by him;
and he shall keep a full, particular and correct account of all
monies received by him and paid out, and of all matters relating
to the duties of his office, together with all vouchers relating
thereto; and he shall, when required, present to the county com-
missioners a true and faithful exhibit of all monies received by
him and of all that have been paid out by him.

110. In case of his death or resignation during his term of
office, the governor of the State shall, within twenty days there-
after, appoint a county treasurer for the unexpired term thus
made vacant, who shall take the oath, give the bond, and perform
all the duties as hereinbefore prescribed by law, but shall not
take charge of or collect any of the taxes that may be in the
hands of the late treasurer uncollected, for which the bond of the
late treasurer is responsible; but such taxes shall be collected
under existing laws for the collectors of State and county taxes,
where there is death or resignation.
