town, and shall order the county collectors, who shall collect the.
taxes within said corporate limits, to pay said one-half thereof
to the commissioners of said town for that purpose.

JURORS, STATE'S WITNESSES, CRIER AND BAILIFFS.

1878, ch. 303.

124. The county commissioners shall annually levy such sunn
of money as they may deem sufficient to pay the. expenses which
may be incurred during the then succeeding year by the attend-
ance of jurors, State's witnesses, crier and bailiffs at the circuit,
court, and shall apportion and place the same in the hands of the
collectors of the several election districts for collection; and the
amounts, when collected, shall be paid over to the collector of
the fourth election district, to he by him disbursed as provided in
the succeeding section; and any of said collectors failing to pay
over to the said collector of the fourth election district one-half
of the amount so levied and placed in their hands, on or before
the first day of November, and one-half on or before the first day
of March succeeding the levy as aforesaid, shall, for any such
failure, forfeit and pay to the collector of said fourth election,
district the sum of fifty dollars, to be recovered by the said col-
lector, in his own name, as other small debts are recovered, before
a justice of the peace, together with the costs of suit; and such
penalty, when recovered, shall be paid to the county commis-
sioners.

125. It shall be the duty of such collector to attend at his
office in Rockville every day during the several terms of the cir-
cuit court of said county, and to pay certificates of attendance
when presented to him for payment, and upon his failure so to
attend at his office in person or by deputy, and to pay such cer-
tificates when so presented by any person to whom the same
have been issued, such collector shall forfeit and pay to every
such party for every such failure the sum of five dollars, to be
recovered by such party in his own name, as other small debts
are recovered before a justice of the peace, together with the
costs of suit.
