1500 MONTGOMERY COUNTY. [ART. 16.

1888, ch. 254.

28. The citizens of said town having resided therein six
months previous to any election, shall, on the first Monday in
May, in the year eighteen hundred and eighty-eight, or as soon
thereafter as conveniently may be, and annually thereafter on the
first Monday in May, elect five commissioners of Barnesville, to
serve for one year, or until their successors shall be elected and

qualified; the commissioners must be substantial citizens, resi-

dent in said corporate limits, and must have resided therein for
at least six months next preceding their election; must be owners
of real estate within said corporate limits, and must continue to
reside in said corporate limits during their term of office; they
shall receive no pay for their services, except the president, who
shall receive the fees hereinafter allowed.

29. The five commissioners elected shall choose one of their
number president, and all vacancies in the commissioners shall be
filled by an election held after ten days' notice given by the re-
maining commissioners.

30. They shall meet in some convenient place in said town on
or before the first Monday in June next succeeding their appoint-
ment, and as often thereafter as may be necessary to the discharge

of the duties of their office.

31. They shall, annually, on or before the first Monday in
April appoint the three judges of election, who shall conduct the

election according to the election laws of the State, except that
the polls shall be opened at two o'clock, F. M. and closed at six
F. M., and the judges and clerk shall make their returns to the

commissioners, but shall receive no compensation for their ser-
vices.

32. They shall, annually, appoint a clerk who shall keep the
minutes of their proceedings in a well bound book, which shall be
open to the inspection of all persons interested therein, and who
shall perform such other duties as the commissioners may assign
him.
