in their discretion the same may be considered necessary; and to
provide for the payment, of damages and expenses incurred by
widening or opening the streets aforesaid by levying and assessing
the same, generally upon the whole, assessable property of said
town or upon the property of persons benefited thereby.

198. The corporation shall not issue any device, token, note,
certificate or evidence of debt to be used as currency.

199. The sheriff of said county shall be entitled to a sum not
exceeding fifty cents a day for each State prisoner confined in
jail.

200. In all criminal cases which may be tried in the circuit
court for Kent county, the judges of said court, in addition to the
sum allowed by law as an appearance fee, may allow to the State's
attorney for said county such compensation, in each case, by way
of trial fee, as they may think just and proper, to be levied by
the county commissioners.

201. For the services rendered by the State's attorney, before
committing justices in preliminary examinations, the judges of
the said circuit court may allow him such compensation, not
exceeding the sum of one hundred and fifty dollars for any one
year, as they shall think just and proper.

202. On or before the fifth day of June, in each year, he
shall make up and present to said court, for inspection and
approval, his account for services rendered during the fiscal year
past, which account, when approved by the court, shall be filed
with the county commissioners for levy.
