1382 HARFORD COUNTY. [ART. 13.

1882, ch. 160.

288. The sneak boat, such as is specified in section 287, shall
be a flat-bottom batteau or other boat, with bush or canvas blinds,
and shall be engaged bona fide in shooting or gunning over
decoys, and no other boat shall be licensed as a sneak boat; no
sailing boat or skiff, or other boat engaged in hunting or shooting
crippled ducks, or in purloining ducks that have been killed and
are drifting, shall be licensed as a sneak boat; and the special
police authorized to be appointed by section 296, are authorized
to arrest any person who may be discovered in tie act of hunting
or shooting crippled ducks, or in purloining ducks that have been
killed by other persons having a proper license to shoot, as well
as other persons violating the provisions of this section, and upon
conviction thereof before any justice of the peace of Harford or
Cecil counties, the license of such person shall be revoked, and
such person, whether licensed or not, shall be fined not less than
twenty dollars for each offence, and shall forfeit the boat and
gun, and material so employed in violation of the provisions of
this section, which boat and gun, and material shall be sold, and
the amount of such fine and proceeds of such sale, after the costs
of prosecution have been paid, shall go to the officer making the
arrest; and the possession of any ducks or gun, by any such boat
so offending, shall be prima fade evidence of a violation of this
section.

289. Every applicant, before obtaining such license, shall pay
to the clerk of the circuit court, to which he may apply for the
time, the following rates, viz: for a sink-box, twenty dollars, and
lor a sneak-boat, five dollars, for each and every gunning season,.
as fixed by section 279; and it shall be the duty of each and
every person obtaining a license, to exhibit the same whenever
called upon by any officer of the State, or any other person
authorized to demand the same, or who may be empowered to.
enforce the provisions of sections 278-301; and every sink-box
and sneak-boat used and employed in gunning after wild water-
fowl, shall be licensed as required by sections 286-301, and be
subject to all the provisions of the several sections thereof.
