WEIGHTS AND MEASURES.
F. L. L. (1860,) art. 13, sec. 143.
270. The standards of weights and measures for Harford
county shall be deposited in the office of the county commis-
sioners, and it shall be the duty of the clerk of the county com-
missioners, upon application, to try and correct, brand and mark
the several weights and measures belonging to citizens of said
county; and the said clerk shall receive six cents for each
weight, measure or scale beam adjusted by him, to be paid by
the person making the application.

271. The county commissioners may, in their discretion, ap_
point a keeper of the standards of weights and measures, who
shall take possession thereof, and perform all the duties herein
required to be performed by their clerk, and shall be entitled to
the same compensation therefor, and shall give bond to the com-
missioners in the penal sum of five hundred dollars, conditioned
for the safe keeping of said standards of weights and measures,
and the performance of the duties of his office.

272. If any person in said county shall sell by any weights or
measures too light or small, he shall, upon conviction in the
circuit court for the county, be liable to a penalty of twenty-five
dollars for each offence.

273. It shall not be lawful for any person to whip or beat the
waters of Romney creek with poles, sticks or any other thing for
the purpose of driving or frightening wild ducks or water-fowl
of any description from their feeding or roosting grounds in said
creek, nor to do the same or any other acts which will have that
effect.
