1176 FREDERICK COUNTY. [ART. 11.

village of Wolfsville; and any person selling any spirituous or
fermented liquors, or any other kind of intoxicating drinks,
whether of original manufacture or of a mixed character, within
the above described limits shall, on conviction, be subject to the
fines and punishments now prescribed by said article 56 of the
code of public general laws title " Licenses," for selling spirituous
or fermented liquors without license.

1888, ch. 320.

311. It shall not be lawful for the clerk of the circuit court
for Frederick county to issue license to any person to sell
spirituous or fermented liquors or lager beer at New London, or
at any place in Frederick county, Maryland, nearer than one mile
in every direction from New London, unless for medical pur-
poses, and upon the prescription of a regular physician.

MECHANICSTOWN.

1870, ch. 98.

312. Leonard Picking, George W. Foreman and Frederick
White, citizens of the village of Mechanicstown, Frederick
county, are created a body politic by the name of "The Commis-
sioners of Mechanicstown," with all the privileges of a body
corporate, and as such shall have succession, and by their corpo-
rate name may sue and be sued, plead and be impleaded, grant,
receive and do all other acts as natural persons, and may purchase
and hold real, personal and mixed property, or dispose of the
same for the benefit of said village, and have and use a common
seal which they may change at pleasure.

1883, ch. 56.

313. The male citizens of said village, of the age of twenty-
one years and upwards, being citizens of the United States, who
shall have resided in said village for and during the space of six
months preceding, shall elect by ballot on the second Monday of
April in each and every year, at the usual place of holding
elections in said village, five commissioners, one of whom shall be
designated by the voters as president, who shall have resided
within the corporate limits of said village one year next preced-
ing the election; the commissioners shall enter upon the discharge
of their duties within ten days after their election.
