tion, shall be entitled to be registered; provided always, that
where any person shall be legally registered in any of the dis-
tricts, and shall remove therefrom to any other of the districts
and remain therein, he shall be entitled to have his name remain
on the registry list of the district from which he shall remove as
aforesaid, and to vote therein until he shall reside in the district
which he shall have removed to and remained in a sufficient time
to entitle him to register therein; and the said officer of registra-
tion before registering any person as a qualified voter, shall ad-
minister to him the following oath: "I do solemnly swear (or
affirm) that I will true answers make to all questions necessary to
ascertain my qualification or disqualification, under the constitu-
tion, to be registered as a qualified voter;" but nothing in the
oath or affirmation contained shall be construed to authorize
the register to ask any questions touching any cause of disqualifi-
cation not expressly enumerated in the constitution of Maryland
or of the United States; and no person shall be permitted to
register who is disqualified under any of the provisions of the
constitution of Maryland, except in relation to color; and the
registers of voters so appointed as aforesaid shall have the
same qualifications, and shall perform their duties in their
several aldermanic districts as are now required of the registers
for the ten wards of the city, except that the publication of the
lists of voters shall be made by handbills distributed in their
respective districts, instead of by printing in the newspapers, as
heretofore directed.

161. Any person who shall wilfully swear or affirm falsely
before any such register in order to procure his name to be placed
upon the registration list to obtain a vote for mayor and alderman,
or for any other purpose, in any election held by or under the
municipal authority of Frederick city, in any of the said wards,
shall be deemed guilty of the crime of perjury, and shall be Itable
to presentment and indictment therefor in the circuit court for
Frederick county, and on conviction thereof shall be fined not less
than one hundred nor more than one thousand dollars, or be con-
fined in the penitentiary of the State for not exceeding seven
years, and shall forever thereafter be disqualified from holding
any office of profit or trust created under the corporation of
