the counties from which such persons may be sent, when com-
mitted by the order of any court, and to be paid by the friends,
relations, trustees or committees of such lunatic or insane persons,
when such persons shall be placed in said hospital by such friends,
relations, trustees or committees.

23. Any one commissioner of charities and corrections may
in writing direct the admission of any poor person into said
almshouse.

24. Any justice of the peace for said county, and any person
authorized by him, may apprehend or cause to be apprehended
any rogues, vagrants, vagabonds, beggars and other idle and
disorderly persons found loitering or residing-in said county, who
follow no trade or occupation, and have no visible means of
support, and commit them to said almshouse, there to be kept at
hard labor for any term not exceeding three months; and the
overseer shall receive and employ them according to the tenor of
the commitment.

25. If any person shall sell or dispose of any strong liquor to
any inmate of said almshouse he shall forfeit the sum of twenty-
five dollars.

26. All the pains, penalties and forfeitures imposed by this,
sub-title of this article shall be recovered in the circuit court by
action of debt or indictment, one-half to the informer and the.
other half to the use of the almshouse of said county.

27. All sheriffs, bailiffs, constables and other officers shall assist,
the commissioners of charities and corrections, and the officers,
appointed by them, in the discharge of their respective duties.

28. If any person shall at any time be sued or prosecuted for
any matter or tiling done by him in pursuance of this sub-title of
