317. The citizens of Hooper's island, Dorchester county, are
authorized and permitted to take and shoot wild fowl in or from
sink boats, blinds or otherwise, for home consumption, within the
waters surrounding said island, not exceeding one mile from the
shores of said island; but it shall be unlawful to shoot or kill
wild fowl from sink boats or floating blinds within two miles
west, south or east of the shores of that part of Hooper's island,
south of the lower ferry, known as lower Hooper's island ferry.

318. Any person violating the provisions of the preceding
section, shall, upon conviction thereof, forfeit and pay the sum
of ten dollars and costs, and also the boat used in said violation;
and for every subsequent violation, a forfeiture of twenty dollars
and costs shall be imposed, together with the forfeiture of the
boat employed in said violation, the same to be recovered before
any justice of the peace within said county; and the boat captured
under the provisions of this section shall immediately be adver-
tised by printed or written handbills, and sold at public sale to
the highest bidder for cash in ten days thereafter; and the money
arising from said sale and fines, after deducting the legal costs,
shall be paid into the free school treasury of Dorchester county,
for the use of said schools; provided, nothing herein contained
shall prevent any person who may be aggrieved by the decision
of the justice of the peace, from appealing to the circuit court,
if such appeals are taken and satisfactory bond filed for prose-
cuting said appeal, with the justice of the peace within five days
after the fine and capture of such boat.

319. It shall be lawful for the citizens of Meekin's neck, in
Dorchester county, to shoot wild fowl from sink-boats or floating
blinds, in, on and over the waters of Honga river and Tar bay,
within two miles of the shore of said Meekin's neck.
