124. in the manner designated and required in section 125, may,
in their discretion, looking to the public interest, invest any
amount standing to the credit of the sinking fund, in the new
jail bonds, but the new jail bonds shall not be destroyed or can-
celled, as is required in the case of the original bonds in section

125. but shall be safely held and kept by them in some secure
place; and if in the opinion of the commissioners it shall be
necessary to re-issue the jail bonds at a later date, the same shall
be done, and the proceeds thereof applied to the extinguishment
of the original debt, from which source they may have been tem-
porarily diverted, leaving the jail bonds to be finally extinguished
in the manner set forth in the act of 1882, chapter 316, author-
izing and creating the debt for the erection of a new jail in the
county.

127. The county commissioners shall, in each and every year,
levy upon the assessable property such sum of money as may be
necessary to pay the interest on the outstanding bonds issued by
them under the provisions of the act of 1882, chapter 316, author-
izing the building of a new jail for Dorchester county, as the
same shall fall due; and in addition to the annual interest, after
five years from the date of issuing said bonds, they shall levy in
each and every year such further and additional sums as may be
required to gradually retire and redeem such bonds until they
shall all have been redeemed; provided, that after the lapse of
the said five years, they shall not levy in each and every year less
than one-tenth of the original principal sum of said bonds for
their redemption.

128. They are authorized to contract with and designate two or
more newspapers printed at Cambridge, in said county, to publish
the public local laws applying to Dorchester county; provided,
that the total cost of publishing said public local laws for any
one session shall not exceed one hundred dollars.
