ing the amount of active capital, cash, and bills receivable and
payable, the checks drawn, and for what purpose, all monies paid
and on what account, which shall be examined and countersigned
by the warden.

419. He shall attend daily at the prison during the usual
business hours, unless excused by the warden or monthly com-
mittee or board of directors.

the prisoners.

424. Convicts shall be cleansed on their admission, and fur-
nished with suitable and comfortable clothing, of such pattern
and description, and to be changed as often as the directors may
designate.

425. They shall be put to hard labor every day in the year,
except Sunday and Christmas day, and when Christmas day fails
on Sunday, then the next Monday is excepted, and their time
