12. If any person shall unlawfully shoot at any person, or shall
in any manner unlawfully and maliciously attempt to discharge any
kind of loaded arms at any person, or shall unlawfully and ma-
liciously stab, cut, or wound any person, or shall assault and beat
any person, with intent to maim, disfigure, or disable such person,
or with intent to prevent the lawful apprehension or detainer of any
party for any offence for which the said party may be legalty ap-

or language, giving or conveying any notice, hint, or reference to
any person, or to the name of any person, real or fictitious, from
whom , or to any place, house, shop, or office, where any poison,
drug, mixture, preparation, medicine, or noxious thing, or any in-
stiument or means whatever, for the purpose of producing abortion ;
or who shall knowingly sell, or cause to be sold, any such poison,
drug, mixture, preparation, medicine, or noxious thing, or instru-
ment of any kind whatever; or where any advice, direction, infor-
mation, or knowledge may be obtained for the purpose of causing
the miscarriage or abortion of any woman pregnant with child, at
