22. If the sheriff shall fail to summon such persons as jurors as
is required by law, to attend the courts of this State, such failure
shall be deemed a contempt of court, and he shall be punished for
such contempt by the court, by fine or imprisonment, the fine not
to exceed five hundred dollars, or the imprisonment twenty days.
