76 JURIES. [ART. 50.

said box, in the manner hereinbefore directed, other
names in the place and stead of the original who may
be dead, disabled or absent, and shall cause the name
or names of such person or persons so as last aforesaid
drawn, to be inserted in the said venire facias to be
summoned as aforesaid, and it shall be the duty of the
sheriff to summon the persons named in said venire
facias, and make return thereof to the said court at
the opening of its session.

Approved and in force April 7, 1870.

1870, c. 331 repeals sections 21 and 23 as far as relates to Prince George's county
and enacts other provisions in relation to juries in that county. See Public Local
Laws, Article XVI, Prince George's county, title jurors.

1870, c. 410 further repeals section 6 of the act of 1867, c. 329 [Sup. 1861-7, p. 139]
and re-enacts the same with amendments as follows:

qualified.

24. The name of no person disqualified or exempted
by existing law from serving as a juror, or who by
existing law the sheriff is forbidden to summon as
such, shall be selected and placed upon the panel or
list, from, which the drawing is to be made as directed
by this act ; nor shall any person be drawn and sum-
moned to two courts successively, but the selection or
drawing of any person disqualified as a juror under
this act, shall not invalidate the drawing or selection,
but such error may be corrected by drawing another
person from the box in place of the person improperly
selected or drawn ; and the said court shall have full

power and authority to coerce the attendance of jurors
drawn and summoned under this act, and to punish
by fine or imprisonment, or both, for any default or
contempt committed in disregarding such summons.

Approved and in force April 4, 1870.

NOTE —As to exemption from jury duty of active and honorary members of volunteer
companies of militia, see Article LXIII, section 22, post.

1870, c. 142 exempts the supervisors of roads in Howard county from militia and
jury duty. See Public Local Laws, Article XIII, Howard county.

1870, c. 192, s. 7 exempts the supervisors of roads in Anne Arundel county from, mi-
litia and jury duty. See Article II, Public Local Laws, section 241.
