426 WORCESTER COUNTY. [Am. 22.

JURORS.

For 1870, c. 96, entitled an act to regulate the drawing and selection of jurors
in Somerset and Worcester counties, see public general laws, Article L, Juries,
ante p. 77.

JUSTICES OF THE PEACE.

1870, c. 55, approved and in force February 19, 1870, authorizes the governor to
appoint one additional justice of the peace for election district number one, in Wor-
cester county, also one additional justice of the peace for election district number
eight.

See public local laws, Article II, Anne Arundel county, sub-title Justices of the
Peace, for the act of 1870, c. 434, to extend the jurisdiction of justices of the peace
in Worcester and other counties to cases of assault and battery.

NEWTOWN.

1870, c. 360 authorizes the corporation of the city of Newtown to subscribe for the
stock of the Newtown gas light company, not to exceed ten thousand dollars.

SANDY HILL—STOCKTON.

1870, c. 349 enacts: That the town of Sandy Hill, in the eighth election district of
Worcester county, is changed, and shall hereafter be known and called by the name

of Stockton.

Approved and in force April 4, 1870.

SHERIFF.

1870, c. 163 enacts the following, and repeals all acts so far as they may be incon-
sistent therewith:

127. The sheriff of Worcester county shall be enti-
tled to receive the sum of forty cents per day for
keeping and boarding each prisoner committed to the
county jail.
Approved April 4, 1870.

SNOW HILL.

1870, c. 357 repeals 1868, c. 236 [Sup. 1868, p. 403] and sections 128 to 147 inclusive,
and enacts the following in their stead:
