ROADS.
1870, c. 139 repeals sections 03 to 95 inclusive, and also the act of 1668, c. 492 which
repealed sections 96 to 10V inclusive, and enacted others in lieu thereof. [See Sup.
1868, p. 310 et seq. ]
1870, c. 294 adds the following:

93. The county commissioners of Charles county
shall have power, and it shall be their duty, to pro-
vide for the repairs of all public roads and bridges in
said county, and to that end may adopt any mode or
system they may deem most expedient for the pur-
pose, and may levy upon the assessable property of
the county, and pay the expenditures for such repairs,
and all incidental expenses arising therefrom, provided
such expenditure shall not exceed the sum of ten thou-

sand dollars for any one year; and they may divide
the county into road districts, or the roads into sec-
tions, and may appoint supervisors or other road offi-
cers over the same, at such fixed annual compensation
as they may prescribe in advance, who shall hold their
places during the term of office of said commissioners,
and until their successors are appointed; and it shall
be the duty of such supervisors or other officers to keep
in repair the roads and bridges of said county, under
the direction and regulation of said commissioners, for
any neglect of which duty they shall be subject to re-
