nances necessary to give effect and operation to the

lanes and alleys in said town, with the consent of two-
thirds of the owners of property fronting on same.

47. The justices of the peace of Queen Anne's county
resident in said town are hereby declared to be conser-
vators of the peace of said town, and it shall be their

duty to order the arrest of any person or persons found
breaking the peace or disturbing the quiet and order of
said town, or violating any of the ordinances made by
the commissioners for securing the safety of the pro-
perty or lives of the inhabitants of said town, and shall
have power to require any person or persons so offend-
ing to give security to keep the peace, or in default
thereof, may commit such person or persons to the
county jail for not more than forty-eight hours, and in
addition thereto, may impose a fine upon such person
or persons of not more than five dollars, to be collected
by execution as officers fees now are, and such fines to
go to the benefit of the town; all fines, penalties, and
forfeitures which may be incurred under the provisions
of this act, and the supplements and amendments there-
to relating to the town of Centreville, and not other-
wise provided for, shall be recovered before a justice of
