1868, c. 36 enacts the following:

806. The mayor and city council of Baltimore are
hereby authorized, to issue from time to time, as they
may deem proper, the bonds of said mayor and city
council, payable at such time and for such sums as
they may deem proper, not exceeding the sum of fifty
thousand dollars in any one year, and in the whole not
exceeding the sum of one hundred thousand dollars,
for the improvement of the public parks of the said
city, the authority now given being that required by
the seventh section of article eleven of the constitution
of this state, to enable the said mayor and city council
to make appropriation at their discretion within the
above limits for the purpose aforesaid.

RAILROAD.
By the act of 1808, c. 284 the Baltimore and Ohio railroad company are authorized
with the consent of the mayor and city council of Baltimore, first had and obtained,
to lay a single railroad track connecting with the track at the corner of Charles and
Camden streets in the city of Baltimore, and thence down Charles street to Conway
street, and thence along Conway street to Light street, said track to be subject as to
its location, construction and use to the same authority and control as other tracks or
branches of said railroad now laid on the streets of said city; provided, that all cars
bringing tobacco to the city of Baltimore on any line of railroad, connecting through
any street of said city with the track of the Baltimore and Ohio railroad, shall be
allowed the free use of the track authorized by this act.
By the act of 1868, c. 344 the mayor and city council of Baltimore, and the county
commissioners of Washington county, are authorized and empowered, if in their
discretion good policy requires it, to waive their liens and mortgage heretofore
executed to the mayor and city council of Baltimore by the western Maryland rail-
road company, in favor of a mortgage or mortgages to be executed by said company
to such amounts, not exceeding the sum of one million dollars, as may be determined
by the mayor and city council of Baltimore and the county commissioners of Wash-
ington county. [Sup. 476.]
