upon the excess until vacancies occur, or further
provision be made by the general assembly. The
yearly rate, per capita, for the instruction of deaf
and dumb persons, as herein provided for, shall be
allowed during the period for which payment will
become due on the first day of April, eighteen hun-
dred and sixty-five.

NOTE.—This act made an additional appropriation of $2,500 for the year ending January 1,
1860, to enable the Governor to carry out the provisions thereof.
INDIGENT BLIND.
I860, c. 74 repeals and re-enacts s. 3 as follows :

'3. A sum not exceeding nine thousand dollars
shall be annually appropriated, to be applied under
the direction of the governor, in placing for instruc-
tion in the Maryland Institution for the instruction
of the blind, or in some convenient institution estab-
lished for the purpose, such indigent blind persons
of the age of nine years and upwards, inhabitants of
this state, and the county or city from which they
are recommended, as may be duly recommended to
the governor by the county commissioners of each
county, and by the judges of the orphans' court of
Baltimore city.

5. The amount per annum paid for any one indi-

Blind In the erection of a building in Baltimore county, the act of 1866, c 75 appropriated for
the year 1865, the sum of $30,000, and for the year 18GB, $20,000. And the act of 1807, c. 422
appropriated for the year 1867, the sum of $30,000 for the some purpose.
