manner affect or impair the responsibility of the
husband or parent, under the existing laws.

SPIRITUOUS OR FERMENTED LIQUORS BY RETAILERS.

1862, c. 119 repeals section 70 and enacts the following in lieu thereof:

70. If any person or body politic shall propose to
open or keep an ordinary, he shall apply to the clerk
of the circuit court of the county in which said appli-
cant may reside, or if he reside in the city of Balti-
more, to the court of common pleas, for a license
therefor; under which license spirituous or fermented
liquors, or lager beer, may be bartered or sold in
quantities less than a pint.

In force from April 30, 1862.

1864, c. 345 amends and re-enacts section 90 as follows :

license, as herein provided by law, without having
the bedding and other accommodations required ; if

any person shall sell or barter any spirituous or fer-
mented liquors, or lager beer, to any person who is
a minor or under twenty-one years of age, he shall,

on conviction, pay a fine of not less than fifty nor
more than two hundred dollars, together with the
costs of prosecution, and upon failure to pay the
same shall be committed to jail and confined therein
until such fine and costs are paid, or for the period
of forty days, which ever shall first occur, and it
shall be the duty of the court before whom said per-
son shall be convicted to suppress his license.
