ELECTIONS. [ART. 35.

city of Baltimore, or the county of their residence,
on the days appointed by law for holding state,
county, congressional or presidential elections of this
state, or on the days appointed by the proper autho-
rity for holding special elections to fill vacancies,
such qualified voters shall be entitled at such time to
exercise the right of suffrage as fully as if they were
present at their usual places of voting.

87. A poll shall be opened in each regiment or
company, at the quarters of the commanding officer
of said regiment or company ; and all duly qualified
electors of this state, belonging to such regiment or
company, who shall be on duty or in hospital at or
near such quarters on the day of election, may vote
at such poll.

88. Such polls shall be opened at nine o'clock in
the morning, and closed at five o'clock in the after-
noon ; provided, nevertheless, that such election may
be held or polls opened for the reception of the votes
of the duly qualified electors at any time within five
days thereafter, if from the emergencies or duties of
the service, such electors cannot exercise their right
of suffrage on the day appointed by law for any
general election in this state.

89. The county commissioners of the respective
counties, and the mayor and city council of Balti-
more, shall, at least twenty days before any general
election, appoint one or more persons, if they shall
deem it necessary, to act as judges at such election,
and two or more counties may appoint the same
judge or judges of election, and shall furnish the
poll books and other matters necessary for the hold-
ing and conducting of said election for their own
county and the city of Baltimore, respectively ; and
it shall be the duty of said judge or judges to keep
separate the ballots and poll books for each county,
or the legislative districts of the city of Baltimore,
and in all other respects said elections shall be con-
ducted as provided for in the constitution and laws
of the state, and whenever the mayor and city coun-
