INSPECTIONS.
FISH.
Chapter 192 repeals sections 293, 294, 295, 296, 297, 298, 299, 300, 301, 302, 303, 304,
306, 306, 307, 308, 309, 310, 311, 312, 313, 314, 315, 316, 317, 318, 319, 320, 321, 322,
323, 324, 325, 326, 327, 328, 329, and 1864, ch. 369 (secs. 17, 18 of art. 4 in II. Sup-
plement 42, ) and enacts the following sections in lieu thereof:
11. The Governor, by and with the advice and consent of the
Senate, shall bi-annually appoint an inspector of salted fish in
the city of Baltimore.
12. The inspector so appointed shall enter into bond to the
State of Maryland, with good and sufficient securities, to be
approved of and retained by the Treasurer, in the penal sum of
two hundred dollars, conditioned for the true and faithful dis-
charge of his duties as inspector.
18. It shall be the duty of said inspector to inspect all salted
fish except such as have been inspected agreeably to the laws
of the county or State from which they came.
14. The said inspector shall receive for the inspection of each
barrel, half barrel, or tierce of herrings, five cents; for each
barrel, half barrel, or tierce of shad, fifteen cents; and for each
kit, or quarter barrel of herrings or shad, three cents.
15. All coopers who may be engaged in the re-cooperage of
fish during the time of inspection, shall be under the control of
the inspector, who may discharge any cooper who shall refuse,
fail or neglect to perform his duties in a workmanlike or satis-
factory manner.
16. If any cooper shall refuse to leave any casks aforesaid,
after having received his discharge as aforesaid, and shall persist
in working thereon, he shall forfeit and pay the sum of twenty
dollars.
