62 CITY OF BALTIMORE. [ART. 4.

JURORS.

Chapter 106 repeals Sections 604 and 605, and substitutes the following:

84. The sheriff of Baltimore city shall, before each term of
the Criminal Court of Baltimore, summon twenty-three persons
from the list prepared by the judges, to serve as grand jurors
for the ensuing term of said court.

85. The twenty-five names first in order on the said list, shall
constitute the jurors for the Superior Court for Baltimore city,
for the three weeks to ensue after the commencement of the
next term of the said court.

In force from March 2, 1864.

MILITIA.

Chapter 132 adds the following.

86. The mayor and city council of Baltimore are hereby
authorized and empowered to raise and appropriate, in their
discretion, in such manner and at such times as they may deem
best, such sums of money as they may deem necessary, to pro-
vide for the relief of the families of those who are, have been, or
may hereafter be in the military service of the United States,
either by enlistment or draft, as a part of the quota of the city
of Baltimore; provided, that the amount so raised shall not exceed
the sum of three hundred thousand dollars in any one year.

87. The mayor and city council of Baltimore, may create a
sinking fund to meet the liabilities to be incurred under the
first section of this act; and may also levy upon the assessable
property of the city of Baltimore, from time to time, such sum
or sums as may be necessary to provide therefor, and for the
payment of the principal and interest of the liabilities to be
incurred under this act, and may pass all ordinances necessary
to carry out the purposes of the same.

In force from February 25,1804.

1864, ch. 284 (P. G. L. Article LXIII,) repeals Sections 652 to 770, inclusive, so for
as inconsistent therewith, (I. Supplement, 41 )
