CRIERS.

Chapter 113 repeals Section 135, and enacts the following in lieu thereof:

3. The Eegister of the city of Baltimore shall pay to the crier
of the Superior Court of Baltimore city, and the crier of the
Court of Common Pleas for Baltimore city, the sum of fifteen
hundred dollars per annum, in monthly instalments, of one
hundred and twenty-five dollars at the end of each and every
month, as, and for their respective salaries, on the certificate of
the clerks of said courts, that said criers have performed tbeir
several duties as criers of said courts for the time so certified
by said clerks.

In force from March 2, 1864.

SHERIFF.

Chapter 236 adds the following:

4. The Sheriff of Baltimore city shall be allowed two dollars
a day for every day he shall attend, either in person or by
deputy, in the Superior Court for Baltimore city, and in the
Court of Common Pleas, and in the Criminal Court of Balti-
more, to be paid to him as the other expenses in said courts are
now paid.

In force from March 10, 1864.

STENOGRAPHER.

Chapter 280 adds the following:

5. The Judge of the Superior Court of Baltimore city, is
hereby empowered to employ a stenographer to take down
the testimony in trials before said court, and who shall be
removable at the pleasure of the court, and the judge of said
court may allow the said stenographer such compensation, not
exceeding fifteen hundred dollars per annum, as he may think
just and proper, to be paid by the Register, under section one
hundred and thirty-four of this Article.
